This passage talks about Ibn Erkam (RA), one of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His house, known as “Dar al-Arqam,” was used as a secret center for inviting people to Islam until the number of Muslims reached 40, which was the time when Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) embraced Islam. Dâr-ul Erkam was located near Safa and was used for the propagation of Islam.
It’s mentioned that Dar al-Arqam was located near one of the gates named Erkam, and its location can be traced from Safa towards the eastern side, approximately where the electric escalator starts today. In the year 171 AH (Hijri), a mosque was constructed in this location. Muslims respected and used this mosque until the year 1375 AH (Hijri), after which it was demolished to expand the Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque in Mecca).
