In 1662, during his visit to Medina, Abu Salim al-Ayyashi documented that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) led Eid prayers at various places, with three of them being well-known. One of these is the location where Eid prayers were led by Hz. Ali (RA) in the Medina prayer ground, just north of the Mosque of Abu Bakr. This event took place when Hz. Osman was besieged by rebels in his house.
Initially constructed by Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, Masjid Ali was reconstructed in 1990 over an area of 882 square meters in a similar style to its original form.
